Daimler FleetBoard clinches ground-breaking telematics deal with Tesco

Daimler FleetBoard has landed a prestigious £2.2-million deal which is being heralded as one of
the most significant ever won by a commercial vehicle telematics provider in the UK.
Tesco has begun fitting FleetBoard systems to its entire distribution fleet of 1,800 trucks following
a six-month trial that produced dramatic reductions in carbon emissions.
The supermarket giant now expects to slash its annual CO2 output by a staggering 10,000
tonnes, as well as save nearly £5 million a year in fuel costs.
The trial was conducted last year and involved 25 Mercedes Axor tractor units working from a
distribution centre in Lichfield, Staffordshire.
Tesco hoped it would lead to a fall in fuel consumption of at least four per cent; in fact, FleetBoard
Vehicle Management achieved an average reduction of 7.2 per cent.

Fleetboard highlights
To sum up the highlights of the 2nd half of 2008 let’s delve into the FleetBoard world with “FleetBoard highlights”. The magazine will certainly evoke shared memories: the International customer event with its classic car tour near Stuttgart or the rousing Drivers’ League live final near Berlin.
At this year's Commercial Vehicles Motor Show in Hannover we discussed the importance of an advanced solution for tachograph data. The present Christmas magazine reports more on this and about internal events like the night-time operation of an IT-team colleague or our Sales Team’s overnight stay in more than 40 trucks.
To request an electronic copy of 'fleetboard highlights' please email nicola.dainter@fleetboard.co.uk.
We hope you enjoy reading our magazine as much as we enjoyed creating it for you.

FleetBoard Drivers' League 2008 - Best of Master Class
There were over 2000 entries last year, and this year we are expecting even more professional truck drivers from across Europe to take part in the individual driver competition. Mercedes-Benz drivers will individually compete to demonstrate the most economic, anticipatory and safe driving style and rank in amongst the top 20. These top performers will then be invited to the live final for a chance to win and be crowned 'FleetBoard Driver of the Year 2008'.
The first place prize is a DTM racing weekend for 2 people. Sponsors of this event are Mercedes-Benzz Charterway, Mercedes-Benz ProfiTraining, and Mercedes-Benz Accessories GmbH.
Participants' driving skills are evaluated by the FleetBoard performance analysis service during their daily work, and weekly publications of the interim results can be seen at www.driversleague.com.
For the second year running, in addition to the overall European competition, a contest will be held exclusively for UK drivers to identify the top 'UK Driver of the Year 2008'. The UK winner will be determined using the data from the European competition and will receive a specially engraved FleetBoard trophy.
