Registration for this year's FleetBoard Drivers' League is open effective immediately. The popular truck drivers' competition shows drivers and fleet directors from all over the world at their best. For four weeks they will strive to drive more economically in their daily tours than the national competition and to complete each tour with flying colours.

Show how talented you are at economical driving and win two tickets for the finals of the Truck Race Championship, including flights and a one week stay in a hotel in Madrid, sponsored by UTA.

The winning driver's company will also receive 3 months free driving on an Actros articulated truck including FleetBoard Vehicle Management, sponsored by Mercedes-Benz Charterway.

Additionally, the companies placed 1st to 3rd will receive a set of tyres (6 pieces), sponsored by Michelin.

It's that time of year again, thousands of truck drivers from all over the world are preparing to take to the road for the FleetBoard Drivers' League, the annual drivers competition that will see them strive to drive more economically in their daily tours than their national competitors.

This year will be particularly exciting: Nine countries from Europe and around the world will participate and their drivers will give their all to win the individual national leagues. Who will manage to get a head start? Who will drive most efficiently and overtake the competition at the last minute? And which drivers will manage the leap into the exciting live finals in Germany?

We would like to introduce our newest member of the UK team, Steve Lovatt, our new UK Head of Sales.



Steve has worked within the automotive industry for 30 years, the last 12 of them in the telematics sector spending time in senior business development roles with two of our leading competitors. Over a 12-year period prior to this he ran his own business as sole UK distributor of an alarm system.

Steve brings considerable experience to the company and we look forward to future growth and development with him as part of the team.

Last night the German transport and logistics magazine VerkehrsRundschau presented the winners of this years Image Awards in Munich.

FleetBoard was awarded first place in the 'Telematics' category for the second time in 3 years, leaving Tom Tom and MAN Telematics behind.



The results were based on market research institute TMS Emnid's interview of 400 managers from the transport industry about the image of the most important suppliers of Commercial Vehicles and related products.

We are very proud of the result and hope to continue on our path of success to claim the trophy as ours next year as well.

Daimler FleetBoard has landed a prestigious £2.2-million deal which is being heralded as one of
the most significant ever won by a commercial vehicle telematics provider in the UK.

Tesco has begun fitting FleetBoard systems to its entire distribution fleet of 1,800 trucks following
a six-month trial that produced dramatic reductions in carbon emissions.

The supermarket giant now expects to slash its annual CO2 output by a staggering 10,000
tonnes, as well as save nearly £5 million a year in fuel costs.

The trial was conducted last year and involved 25 Mercedes Axor tractor units working from a
distribution centre in Lichfield, Staffordshire.

Tesco hoped it would lead to a fall in fuel consumption of at least four per cent; in fact, FleetBoard
Vehicle Management achieved an average reduction of 7.2 per cent.

The summer is here already, we are more than half way through 2009, so as always we would like to take this opportunity to update you with FleetBoard news and events from the first half of the year in our customer magazine 'fleetboardhighlights'.

This first edition of 2009 reports on events such as the LogiMAT in Stuttgart and the transport Logistic exhibition in Munich. We bring you up to date information on FleetBoard changes and developments, as well as providing you with updates on fellow FleetBoard customers' and news from this year's Drivers' League.

The four exciting weeks of competition, from 1st to 30th June, have now passed. 5,400 truck drivers from across Europe, including 144 participants from the UK, battled it out and fine tuned their driving skills to prove their economic efficiency and secure a top place in their national ranks.

So the last tours have been driven and the finalists have now been confirmed. Congratulations to our top two UK rankings, Gary Martin of 21st Century Logistics (Driving Style of 9.61), and Graham Huxley of Clarke International (Driving Style of 9.31), who will go on to the live final in Worth, Germany on September 12th 2009.

At this exclusive event, the top European drivers will meet face-to-face for the first time and pit their strengths against each other in a live contest, which will consist of different disciplines of economically efficient, dexterous and safe driving. It's that time of year again, when truck drivers from all across Europe go head to head to demonstrate their driving expertise and prove that they have what it takes to be the best in the FleetBoard Drivers' League.

2009 marks the 7th FleetBoard pan European Drivers' League and the competition is set to be hotter than ever since for the first time, the Drivers' League will be held in parallel competitions. This year, from 1st to 30th June, all Mercedes-Benz truck drivers who have activated the FleetBoard Performance Analysis in full MB mode can compete in national leagues of efficient driving with passion and ambition.

The FleetBoard driver grades are decisive for the ranking and are based on consumption and braking levels during your daily business.

Only the best drivers from each national league will proceed to the live final. These top drivers will prove their worth in various driving tasks at the European Final in Germany before the overall European champion is selected.

Springtime is also the time for the well known transport logistic which takes place every two years in Munich. From 12th - 15th May 2009 1,700 exhibitors from 55 countries will represent the world of transport at the Munich trade fair. FleetBoard Tachomanagement with Mass Memory Download according to the TACHOready standard is now available.

FleetBoard is the first telematics supplier to offer tachograph management based on the TACHOready standard and supply a cost-effective complete solution for your digital tachographs.

TACHOready is a new standard with which FleetBoard demonstrates that its telematics systems have the capability to export the data from driver cards and mass storage units of the new digital tachograph without the need for a company card in the vehicle, to archive data and provide the data for analysis.

The new FleetBoard tachomanagement allows companies greater freedom and more time to focus on the basics.



Company cards can now be kept at the company headquarters and vehicles no longer have to return to base for the legally required data downloads from mass storage units and driver cards since, from the workplace, tachograph data is conveniently exported and stored, for up to 36 months in the secure FleetBoard Service Centre, by means of remote data transfer.

A very well deserving Gary Martin of 21st Century Logistics has been officially crowned as FleetBoard's 'UK Driver of the Year 2008'.



Joined by 21st Century Managing Director, David Pink, Commercial Manager, John Robson, and FleetBoard Corporate Account Manager, Mark Sach, Gary was presented with his engraved winners trophy and prizes at the 21st Century headquarters in Sittingbourne, Kent.

Gary topped the 2008 UK Driver of the Year competition, which ran from 1st - 30th June 2008 in addition to the overall European competition, with a driver grading of 9.43 and a degree of difficulty of 4.97, and ranked 122nd in the overall European League.

At this year's Commercial Vehicles Motor Show in Hannover we discussed the importance of an advanced solution for tachograph data.
